Sweet and Sour Meatballs
Meatball Ingredients
1 - 1 1/2 lbs. gluten burger
(homemade or commercial)
10 water chestnuts, chopped
1 onion, chopped
5 dried mushrooms, rehydrated and chopped
1 egg
4 T. cornstarch
2 t. hoisin sauce
salt to taste
1 large bamboo shoot, chopped
Mix ingredients and form into balls. Deep fry
using spatula to place balls into pan. Top with crisply fried
carrot and green pepper strips, sweet and sour sauce and serve.
Sweet and Sour Sauce
1/4 C. chopped onion
2 T. butter
2 T. cornstarch
2 T. brown sugar
1 T. soy sauce
3/4 C. pineapple syrup
1 can pineapple chunks
1/4 C. lemon juice
Cook onion and green pepper in butter until softened, but not
browned - about 5 minutes. Remove from heat. Sprinkle with
cornstarch and brown sugar; mix well. Stir in combined liquids
and cook, stirring constantly until slightly thickened - about
2 minutes. Pour sauce and pineapple chunks over meatballs.
